There is a serious youth movement brewing in Philadelphia. It's an awesome site to see especially in light of the amount of negative press the youth receive for bad behavior. "Just" Greg Corbin and his lyrically and socially conscious crew have rallied many talented young adults from our area to form The Philly Youth Poetry Movement.
This week PYPM, Philadelphia Urban Creators, and Marc Bamuthi Joseph have teamed up to present a week long series of free "performance and writing workshops facilitated by Marc, Greg Corbin, Jeaninne Kayembe and Sharvon P. Urbannavage." The workshops do not require any registration and are great for young people aged 10 to 19. Here is a detailed list of events for the week:

Stories of Healing Behind the Wounds (Scars): Cultivate self-awareness, acknowledge you scars among others, build confidence, improve your potential to heal and propel to a higher place in life.
Roots: Name a negative and a positive attribute in your community. Did you neighbor list the same attributes? What challenges do you all commonly face? What is in your collective power to make change?
