Sunday June 19th, 2011, South Philly was buzzing with activity because of a major concert at The Wells Fargo Center (formerly The Wachovia, formerly The First Union, formerly God knows what else). This was "No Ordinary" concert, this was an event not to miss because the main attraction does not tour often (at least not in Philly). The mystic muse known as Sade entranced the audience with her beauty, haunting melodies crafted by skillful musicians and multi media images which looked like they were lifted from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The evening began with special guest John Legend who's show included several Philly natives on the band stand. John, dressed in a white suit, looked as sophisticated and smooth as his music sounded. John rolled through many of his hits including "Ordinary People" and "Green Light" then he encouraged everyone to "enjoy Sade" which we did immensely!
Sade and her band emerged from the floor with the stage dimly lit with a warm glow of yellow and red in the background; the audience knew they were about the witness more than a concert, this would be an experience. The evening included hits from the first to the most recent albums and a few new tracks as well. There were at least three costume changes, set changes and even choreography with her background singers. At the conclusion of the show many exclaimed that this "was the best show they have seen...in years." If you missed this performance there is good news, she return to the area on July 2 at Trump Taj Mahal Mark G Etess Arena in Atlantic City, NJ. This is an experience you don't want to miss; who knows when she will come back to our area again. For ticket info CLICK HERE.
