Politics of Hue: Conference on Race & Social Identity

There is a buzz surrounding a documentary called Dark Girls, directed by Bill Duke; the documentary uncovers " the deep-seated biases and attitudes about skin color outside of and within the African American culture." Sad to say but the "light skinned/dark skinned" issue is still and issue in our society and it deserves deeper thought and discussion.  The Association of Black Women in Higher Education (ABWHE) is responding to the need for further discussion of this issue with their "Sisters, Can We Talk" series, a one day conference on Friday October 7th from 8am to 4:30pm. The focus of this conference is "The Politics of Hue: Race, Racism & Social Identity" and the event will feature workshops, performances, networking opportunities and guest speakers (which I am honored to say I am among the list of presenters). This is an excellent opportunity to bring co-workers, classmates, students and friends to an event which will inform, inspire and promote healing.
